Introduction about Jeju Island (Jeju-do)

Overall

Jeju Island, a.k.a. Jeju-Do, is located in the southwest of Korean Peninsula, and is the biggest and the most populated island in South Korea. Its area is 1833 km², which is 218ᵗʰ in size among the islands in the world, and the population is around seven hundred thousand.

Geography

Jeju-do was formed due to volcanic activities approximately 2 million year ago. It has Mt. Halla, a.k.a. Hallasan, in the center of the island which is the highest mountain in South Korea, and around it has about 370 small volcanic mountains that are called "Oreum" in Jeju dialect. There are two cities in Jeju-do. If you divide the island into north and south, the northern half would be Jeju-si (Jeju city) and the southern half would be Seogwipo-si (Seogwipo city).

Attractions

The island attracts a lot of tourists around the world all year round as it provides so many different tourist attractions including beautiful natures such as World Heritage Site, various activities to enjoy, and amazing local food. In this blog, I'd like to introduce useful information about Jeju-do as a person who lives here, including great places to go, eat, and visit. Please enjoy!
